29:35 Doesn't sound like Heike Bauer has read The Well of Loneliness. In the text, it is Stephen's father who has 'German books' in his library. Stephen is naive and only gradually becomes aware of the theory of inversion, as her father shields her from knowledge he considers shameful. As for Radclyffe Hall saying mean things about a trans man, that could have been due to the deception involved in marrying a woman. In the novel, Stephen believes marriage is impossible for inverts and gives up her lover to a man as a religious act of self-sacrifice, hence the title.

As a historian, may i point out to you and your viewers, the concept of "being a teenager" didn't exist in the 19th century. It certainly didn't exist before that time, you keep emphasizing that he was only "15 years old", you are sanitizing that era by modern morals and values, of course his age was uncomfortable to our modern senses! You also brought up Byron being infatuated with his cousins, well 🙄, that was completely normal for that era. I get what you are trying to do, but quit jumping to modern standards to judge and/or excuse the subjects of your videos. You are attempting to be a historian? Present THE FACTS, Byron was a brilliant, deeply flawed, and man of his time...who was a bisexual maverick.

Of all the animals that we train for one reason or another- entertainment, cooperative care, services, enrichment- horses are still the furthest behind. While to training of dogs, cats, exotics of all shapes and sizes has largely moved to exclusively positive reinforcement , consent in training and the removal of punishment, unfortunately for horses this is not the norm. While I would not be surprised if the horses trained for Hollywood are more likely to be trained with multiple types of operant conditioning at this point- science based training is the most effective- I am also sure many are trained with the traditional negative reinforcement and both positive and negative punishment. There is a slow but steady movement to do better by horses- in training and management- after everything they have done for us. They are wonderful and intelligent creatures and so many of their "vices" are created by the way they are kept and trained. I hope it continues to grow that we can meet them on their level as social animals who need freedom and friends to thrive.

Okay this video is very interesting so far but the way you pronounced "Llangollen" hurt my soul. It's not easy to write out how to pronounce it as the Welsh "ll" sound doesn't exist in English, but here's a pronunciation guide I found online. "First, place the tip of your tongue along the gum line behind your front teeth as if you were about to pronounce the letter L. Then, while keeping your tongue firmly in place, blow a constant stream of air out of the two sides of your mouth."

Ive researched quite extensively into Charles Joughin and it seems that reasons for his extraordinary survival. First off him drinking helped keep him calm. Second he actually climbed over the railings and stood on the back like Jack and Rose did in the film ( Charles is actually beside them ) and rode it down like elevator. Lastly he said in his testimony he stepped off the ship at the last second and manged to swim away without being submerged. He saud he didn't even get his hair wet. He remained calm didnt thrash around and managed to hold onto a lifeboat like described in this video . This most likely the reason for his survival. Its hard to say how long he was in the water , but two hours woild be impossible, but we can forgive him believing it was that long because it probably felt it 😬

I betray no secret when I note that the LAPD has a squalid history of joyous bigotry and slap-happy violence, not to mention a level of corruption that would have made Mayor Daley of Chicago blush. BTW: there was a homophobic pogrom in the Metro Boston area when the police busted a few dozen gay men frolicking with age of consent teenagers in Revere, Massachusetts during the late 1970s. Worth your time excavating, dear Kaz.

There was so much to absorb in this, yet my broke ass brain is still ringing with your mention of "cheap rent" near the beginning, and all I could do was sarcastically say, "Gee, it's almost like cheap has this tendency to aid in a thriving arts and social scene. Who'd've thunk it?" Class consciousness aside, your description of many lesbians identifying it as another gender struck a chord. It kind of makes sense to me, and I wonder if that is part of why so much gay history I read as an adolescent and young adult usually skirted around the topic aside (apart from their professed lack of material to draw upon and possibly the downward pressure of sexism that buries non-male perspectives). To varying degrees, I've long had this sense that the lesbian world was more than just homosexuality amongst women, and lesbian as another gender just puts that into sharp focus. I want to learn more! Finally, the disappearance of lesbian bars interests me. Hell, so many spaces seem to be going away and not always being replaced. I feel like there's another video in there somewhere.

This was absolutely outstanding! I wish it was available when I was teaching Ph.D.-level seminars in communication theory and research methods. It splendidly demonstrates complex issues related to the material world, culture and identity. It also illuminates problematics associated with presentism as it clouds historical analysis -- so I could have used it in my historical methods seminar too. And, as always, the costumes really bring this all to life. Marvelous!

Wow. By 26 minutes in you have made some asinine claims. You tried to change facts and history by calling Actual History “ciscentric” a big one. Stop trying to force bullshit down our throats and hoping we’ll believe it’s ice cream. I can Biden knows better. I tuned out for about 20 minutes and now you said “we know scientifically” I hate to break it to ya but someone has to, science knows very little. The reason people getting paid to show up in the medical industry are practicing is because there are very few certainties. They frequently tell families someone is going to die and not likely to see 3 more months then take them off the poisons that they were killing them with and they recover miraculously. Yes happens and I have family who has defied “expert” predictions. My Grandma had her brain on the pavement, they told my Grandpa she was dead then she would never get up from the coma and if she did she would be a vegetable, then that she’d be paralyzed for life then eventually they gave up predicting anything about her. She lost an eye and was in a coma for 28 days and paralyzed for another month or something and later in life ended up back in a wheelchair but only for a short while. They told one of my Grandpa’s he was going to die of heart failure inside 5 years if he didn’t stop eating meat. He died 20 years later from complications from hitting his head and suffering a brain aneurysm. Still eating meat to his death. They don’t know anything really beyond no heart beat and no breathing leads to death, everything else is just guessing especially the chemistry experiments they play with us. If they find out a medication helps you at all they will document it and take it away and declare you ineligible to have it again ever. I know from experience. They do it with every medication that helps they change it and refuse to go back. But hey you think they “know so much”. They know some germs can kill sure but not enough to know that over sterilizing kills the germs that exist to keep the bad ones in check. You really are fooling yourself if you think medical science has learned much beneficial information in the last 500 years. Yeah bathing was a huge medical advancement but not a lot since then. They learned that the presence of natural teeth in your mouth somehow is a benefit to your health, more than just getting food down.

Myasthma theory isn’t completely wrong, it was an early attempt to understand airborne illness. We know various vectors ride the air to infect you. I think it should never have been instead of germ theory but in supplement to it as they’re two ways of describing the same thing but they didn’t know why people got sick from airborne diseases.

Cocaine was widely used without issue by everyone up until after the failure of the alcohol prohibition fiasco in America. Afterwards pharmaceutical companies got license to sell everyone whatever they want to sell because they were by order of the government the ONLY game in town. Weed is reported by people across America to be an effective remedy for general pain, headaches and anxiety and depression and helps with people who have no appetite. It’s also a safe alternative to Ambien.

The story about the duckling was one of My favorites. I recall once I read one version of the duckling that left Me scarred. It started with the farm animals laughing at the duckling, causing Him to run away, one panel showed Him sleeping inside a log during winter and shedding a tear, in another it was even an activity page for You to draw snow flakes with the duckling walking in the snow and in it other it showed the duckling wandering on some road and in the next it showed two wood ducks I think they were harassing Him.
